Why go to a therapist?
Not all therapy experiences are alike, nor should they be. Going to a therapist can be a worthwhile growing and stabilizing experience, good for times when there are specific concerns you would like support around or even if it's more of a general feeling of wanting to feel better about your life. You can go to a therapist once, for a few months or embark on long-term therapy–each depends on different expectations and goals.
How do I know if you are the right therapist for me?
Simply put, you probably don't yet. I am a big believer in finding the right 'fit'. There are a lot of really good therapists out there and sometimes it's a little trial and error to find the one that you feel can be helpful to you. It is a mutual process: I will let you know if I believe I could be helpful or if I feel like another therapist or type of therapy would be more beneficial, and ultimately it is up to you to decide what you need. If you would like to meet for a free consultation session* to explore whether we might work well together, please contact me at (925) 587-6617 or [email protected] .
* You'll pay for your first session only if we decide we are a good match. You owe me nothing if you decide we are not a good match, and I'll gladly provide you with referrals.

How do your fees work?
The standard session fee is $210 for a 50-minute therapy session.
Insurance: Although I do not accept any insurance plans, I would be happy to provide you with “Superbill” that you may submit to your insurance company for partial reimbursement. Not all insurance plans cover “outside of network providers” though, so it’s always a good idea to check with your insurance company. Also, please be advised that using your insurance usually requires diagnosis which will become part of your health record.
Sliding scale: I have a very limited number of slots I reserve for folks who need a sliding scale to be able to participate in therapy, These slots are generally reserved for students and clients with a reduced income.

What do we do in a typical session?
Initial session: This is usually more of a 'meet and greet' session were we talk about what to expect from the counseling experience, your concerns and goals for therapy as well as your strengths and abilities that could be helpful to you in your process.
On-going sessions: It depends on your needs! We may spend time exploring some of the challenges you are experiencing to identify any underlying needs or themes, notice patterns or beliefs that may not be serving you, explore options and choices available to you and potential next steps. Or we may focus on your strengths and how to do more of what already works in those situations that you find challenging. Sometimes, you may just need to tell your story and be really heard and supported.
